Committee on Education

Dr. Kulbhushan Vashishth
(Academician Ayurveda)

This Committee is Headed by Dr. Kulbhushan Vashisht

The IRA (Industry-Research-Academia) Chamber of Ayurveda is a pioneering initiative launched (notably in Punjab in 2024) to bridge the gap between Ayurvedic traditional knowledge, modern scientific research, and industrial manufacturing.

The Education Committee within this chamber serves as the vital link between academic institutions and the professional world. Its primary role is to ensure that Ayurvedic education is not just theoretical but also aligned with modern industry standards and clinical research needs.

Core Responsibilities of the Education Committee

The Education Committee focuses on three main pillars: Curriculum Modernization, Skill Development, and Professional Integration.

  1. Curriculum Alignment and Enhancement

The committee works to update educational syllabi to include contemporary industrial requirements.

  • Industrial Orientation: Introducing students to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and quality control standards used in the Ayurvedic industry.
  • Research Integration: Encouraging the inclusion of modern research methodologies and evidence-based practices into the traditional BAMS (Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery) curriculum.
  1. Bridging the “Skills Gap”

The committee identifies areas where fresh graduates lack the practical skills needed for the workforce.

  • Continuing Medical Education (CME): Organizing workshops and seminars for practitioners and students to keep them updated on new drug delivery systems and diagnostic technologies.
  • Internship Coordination: Facilitating internships where students can work directly in research labs or manufacturing units to gain hands-on experience.
  1. Entrepreneurship and Career Guidance

A major goal of the committee is to shift the focus from just clinical practice to broader career paths.

  • Incubation Support: Helping students and educators understand how to turn research ideas into commercial Ayurvedic products.
  • Start-up Mentorship: Providing a platform where academic projects can find industrial sponsors for development.

Strategic Importance of the Committee

The Education Committee ensures that the “Academia” part of the IRA triad is functioning effectively to support the “Industry” and “Research” arms.
